One day a woman saw a man who was homeless and stopped. She gave him $20, two bags of food, and spent an hour just talking and getting to know him. A few days later she would return and perform an act of compassion so incredible that it would change the trajectory of his life forever.

When she came back she picked him up and took him to a motel, but not just for one night – she put him up for nearly three months while he worked to get back on his feet. In that time she kept him fed, helped him find a job, and most importantly – she became his friend. She celebrated his successes. She helped him deal with setbacks and challenges.  It was that comprehensive, sustained support she provided him that would make all the difference.

Over those few months the man was able to find a job, started taking care of his physical and mental health, and slowly began being able to provide for himself again.  He enrolled in college, found stable housing, and two years later earned his college degree with honors while working two jobs.

Forever changed by the compassion of the woman, he knew what he was called to do in life:  pay forward the incredible act of kindness that had been done for him.  TY4YK is the result of that mission, its purpose to foster similar acts both large and small in order to make a lasting impact on the lives of those in need
