Questions About Volunteering?

Volunteering is a meaningful way to build community, develop new skills, and support people who benefit from safe, caring relationships. Whether you have a lot of time or just a little, your presence can make a real difference.

Not at all. The most important qualities are reliability, kindness, and a willingness to learn. We provide guidance and support so volunteers feel confident in their roles. That being said, if you have any notable skills or specific interests, we would love to know about them so that we can fit you with the perfect role, and maybe even discover a new way to be of service to our friends in need.

Volunteer opportunities vary. Some roles involve regular commitments, while others are flexible or event-based. We work with volunteers to find opportunities that fit their schedules.

Volunteers receive orientation, clear expectations, and ongoing support from staff. We want every volunteer to feel prepared, valued, and connected to the mission.

Yes! Group volunteering can be a great way for workplaces, student groups, faith communities, or friends to serve together. Contact us to explore group opportunities.

Getting started is simple. Fill out our volunteer interest form, and a member of our team will follow up to talk about opportunities and next steps.

Be Selfish. Volunteer!
Kevin White’s TEDx Talk

In his TEDx talk, Kevin White challenges the idea that volunteering has to be purely selfless. He argues that people volunteer for many reasons—connection, purpose, growth, community, or even personal healing—and that all of these motivations are valid. What matters most is that we show up for one another. At TY4YK, we welcome volunteers with any motivation, because the impact you make matters just as much as the reason that brought you here.
